How to use this calculator
A secured card usually requires a refundable deposit that helps set the credit limit. The deposit normally does not pay the monthly bill.
How a secured-card limit works
A secured credit card generally requires a refundable security deposit. The issuer may use that deposit to establish the credit limit, but the deposit normally does not pay the monthly bill. Purchases create a balance that must be paid according to the account agreement.
How this calculator uses the deposit
The tool treats the deposit-backed limit as available revolving credit, subtracts a planned payment from the balance and estimates remaining available credit. It also shows the additional payment needed to reach 30% and 10% utilization reference scenarios.
Example with a small limit
A $200 balance on a $500 limit is 40% utilization. If $50 posts before the balance is reported, the modeled balance becomes $150 and utilization becomes 30%. A small dollar purchase can create a large percentage change when a limit is low.

What the estimate cannot tell you
This tool does not access a credit report, verify income, collect identity information, predict approval or replace provider disclosures. Rates, fees, screening rules and eligibility are controlled by the relevant provider.
Frequently asked questions
Does my deposit pay the card bill?
Usually no. The deposit generally secures the account, while purchases must be paid under the card agreement.
Is the deposit always equal to the credit limit?
Not always. Confirm the relationship between deposit and limit with the issuer before applying.
When is the deposit returned?
Refund and graduation rules vary. Review the agreement for account review, conversion and closing terms.
